Transparent thermo-adhesive covering made of lightweight polyester, 10m

This polyester film, being the same material from which other high quality coverings are made, has similar mechanical strength, unlike other inexpensive Chinese-made coverings which are not comparable.

It has a thickness of about 30 microns, which makes it comparable in strength and weight to Oralight or other coverings of similar lightness, so it is particularly suitable for sailplanes, park flyers and light model airplanes up to about 2.5m wingspan, although this will vary according to personal preference and depending on the type of model aircraft, for example a very light thermal sailplane with a wingspan of 3m could use this material, however a speed model aircraft with a wingspan of 1.2m or an aerobatic sailplane would benefit from an even stronger material because they will be subjected to much higher mechanical stresses.

We supply it in rolls of 10m for a width of about 62cm, it is not cost effective to sell it in smaller quantities and it should be noted that the price of a 10m roll is less than the cost of only 1m of Oralight, for example.

This film has a lower shrinkage capacity than those manufactured especially for model aircraft, it is approximately half, between 2% and 3% when the Oralight has 5%, therefore you have to stick it already pre-stressed, starting with the vertices of a diagonal, then the opposite, then intermediate points, then sealing the entire perimeter and finally applying heat in the centre to finish tightening it.

Its lower than normal shrinkage capacity can be an advantage in sailplanes and model airplanes with weak wing structures, as it will be more difficult for them to twist when tensioned.

We recommend doing an ironing test on a piece of leftover wood to find the ideal iron setting at minimum and maximum levels, usually a little warmer than for the Oralight.

NOTE: The film is not completely transparent at first but when heat is applied to retract it, the adhesive melts and it becomes fully transparent.
